From concept
to matter.
Product design, prototyping and FDM 3D printing for companies across Northern Italy. From the first sketch to the finished part.
Every part is built
one layer at a time.
Layers of 0.2 mm, laid one on top of the other until the drawn form becomes a real object.
From the file to the finished part.
We design, prototype and produce in one studio, for companies across Northern Italy.
AP Design designs objects and components already knowing how they will be printed. Form, wall thickness, orientation and material are decided together, before time and filament are wasted.
Layer after layer, the part takes shape.
Each pass of the nozzle adds 0.2 mm. We choose orientation and infill so the part is strong where it needs to be.
Three disciplines in one studio.
Research, concept and 3D modelling of objects and components, developed from the start to be manufactured.
The product design service
Visual and functional prototypes to test form, footprint and assembly before investing in moulds or production.
The prototyping service
Printing from your file. We check the geometry, choose material and orientation, and produce from a single part to small runs.
The 3D printing serviceFrom the first layer to the finished part.
Before printing starts we set orientation, supports and infill, so the part leaves the plate ready to use.
The right material for real use.
We choose the filament for what the part has to do: a visual check, an assembly, the heat of a motor, the sun outdoors.

PLA. Stiff and precise. For visual prototypes, models and form checks.
PETG. Tough and moisture resistant. For functional parts, clips and enclosures.
ABS. Handles heat better and can be worked after printing. For housings and technical parts.
ASA. Like ABS but stable under UV light. For outdoor components.
We also consider other technical materials. Availability is confirmed in the quote.
Concept work.
Studies of form and light, born in CAD and designed for FDM printing.

Before production, we put it to the test.
Every prototype is assembled and set in motion: fits, clearances and couplings are checked on the real part.
From idea to part in four steps.
Brief
You tell us the goals, use, dimensions and constraints. A description, a sketch or a file is enough.
Design
We develop the form in 3D CAD and review it with you, already set up for printing.
Prototype
We print, measure and test the part. If needed we correct the model and print again.
Production
We make the final part or the small run, with the material and finish the use requires.
A technical partner for companies in Northern Italy.
We work with companies, engineering offices and startups in Lombardy, Veneto, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige, Liguria and Aosta Valley.
Files, revisions and approvals happen online. We work remotely across Northern Italy; when the project calls for it, we meet at your company.
Frequently asked questions
Which files can I send?
STL, STEP, STP, 3MF, OBJ and ZIP, as well as PDF and images, up to 10 MB. If you have no file, describe the project and send the request anyway.
Which materials do you use?
Depending on how the part is used we consider PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and other technical materials suited to the geometry and requirements. Availability is confirmed in the quote.
How much does a 3D print cost?
It depends on size, geometry, material, orientation, supports, finish and quantity. We review the file and prepare a quote on the real project.
Do you make small runs?
Yes. We weigh quantity, size, the repeatability required and how it compares with other production methods.
Do you only work in Northern Italy?
No. We serve clients across Italy and consider requests from abroad. We work remotely across Northern Italy; when the project calls for it, we meet at your company.
Tell us about the part you need.
Describe what you want to make and, if you have them, attach files or drawings. We reply with a clear quote, with no obligation.
