How much does a 3D printed prototype cost?
It is almost everyone's first question. The honest answer: it depends on six precise factors. Knowing them helps you read a quote and often save money before you even ask for one.

The six factors that set the price
1. Volume and size. More material and more print hours mean a higher cost. A large but lightweighted part costs less than the same part printed solid.
2. Geometry. Overhangs and suspended features need supports, which add print and cleaning time. Often a different orientation is enough to reduce them.
3. Material. PLA is the cheapest and fastest to print. PETG, ABS and ASA cost more and need tighter process settings.
4. Resolution. Thinner layers give better surfaces but take longer. A form prototype rarely needs them.
5. Finish. Basic technical cleaning is included. A more refined aesthetic finish requires extra manual work.
6. Quantity. File preparation happens once: ten copies cost less than ten times one copy.
The hidden cost: printing it again
The most expensive item is often the second version, the one you need because the first did not answer the right question. That is why, before printing, we agree with you on what the prototype must prove: shape, fit, assembly or function.
Five ways to spend less
- Print only the part you need to check, not the whole product.
- Use PLA for form checks and move to technical materials only for functional tests.
- Lightweight solid sections if the part does not carry loads.
- Group several components in the same request.
- If you can, send a STEP file rather than an STL: it lets us fix small printability issues more easily.
What to send us for an accurate quote
- The 3D file (STL, STEP, 3MF, OBJ), or drawings, photos and measurements.
- What the part is for and where it will be used.
- Quantity and the timing you need.

Frequently asked questions
Can you give me a rough price without a file?
We can tell you what drives it and what we need. A reliable price comes after we see a file or measurements, within 24 working hours.
How long does it take to get a quote?
We reply within 24 working hours of your request, with the quote or the technical questions we need to prepare it.
Is it cheaper to print several copies together?
Yes, if you need them. File preparation is done once and spread across all parts.
What if I do not have a 3D file?
We start from a sketch, a photo or an existing object and build the model ourselves through our product design service.
Tell us about the part you need.
Attach the file if you have one, or describe the part with photos and measurements. We reply within 24 working hours with a quote or the technical questions we need answered.
